Thanks all! Yeah I'm dying to get out of my friend's extra bedroom and into my new place but a few surprise overnights shifts have delayed my move-in. Hopefully by Wednesday. Cant wait to spend a day waling around getting to know my new neighborhood.
So I've asked about 4 people how to pronounce "Mosholu" and have gotten about 6 different answers.
Everyone is always talking about Bedford Park, but what about Norwood? What is it that makes Bedford Park better? Or is it?
I can think of a few advantages Norwood has:
- The Williamsbridge Oval
- North side of Mosholu has southern facing windows where you get a lot of natural sunlight.
- More options for shopping close by (I haven't explored Bedford Park as much so maybe this is not actually true?)
- Closer to Van Cortlandt park
from both sides of the Mosholu, Norwood and BP look about the same. but if you get up close, BP seems to offer a more quaint appearance than Norwood. there are co-ops in BP and some of the Norwood blocks coming off the Mosholu have problems with drugs and gangs. not that they would go after innocent pedestrians, but the same blocks in BP just seem quieter and more dignified.

Is the Oval redone? I thought a lot of cash was being pumped in? BTW you should of seen Bainbridge straight down to Webster Ave in 1989. There had to be about 35 bars starting with the GreenTree right by the Oval down to Gormans at 204th and Webster. Italian Village for hero's. Sal's is still there albeit a new spot.
Man..I've been eating pizza at Sal's since I was 15! (I'm going to be 38 in October). The last few times I went there I didn't see Sal himself but I'm sure he's still hanging around his place.
G. Oliver Koppell was responsible for trying to dump a lot of drug addicts, homeless ppl and mentally handicapped in group homes anywhere but RIVERDALE. Even faced with massive community oppostion he has tried to push projects thru and has succeed in some cases.

Sal, sold the place two years ago but does work there occasionally. The workers themselves are still there which is crucial.
