NYC is wide open to you. Whatever you desire is here for the taking. I encourage you to explore the city as there's so much to do and see that you have to choose what's right for you. I think you would fit in fine, except for events involving bars. Movies, outings, etc are completely open to you.

I also hope you stay here. You are an asset to the city and we need you. If you have any questions about affordable housing, etc, I encourageyou to DM me and I will try my best to help you. I don't wanna lose you...NYC is the most wonderful city in the country, if not the world. Enjoy it, take advantage of it and give back, and you are already more of a true NY'er than many on this board who have lived here their whole lives.

One more thing--for those of you who wish the city would be whites, you are going against your own best interests by scaring off folks like this. What will happen is that only yups will move in, and the starving artists, teachers, authors, actors, and others we desperately need will look elsewhere and we will all be the poorer for it. Give theseyoung peopple their shot at this beautifu city, and let them decide for themselves if they want to stay or leave.

I'd just chalk this stage of your life up to working and sewing seeds for the future. I mean, if you work 10 hours a day, how much social life can one have? Right now, you are working and I'd focus on that. You will meet people as time goes by, and develop relationships based on work, school, etc. I wouldn't stress about it.

That's one of the most encouraging posts I have seen on the forum in awhile. I hope if and when I decide to move to NYC (or most likely Bklyn) others will be that encouraging to me.
