does anybody know any streets in central queens like richmond hill, briarwood, kew gardens where there is no alternate side parking at all? I have to leave my car for 9 days for a trip to the west coast and don't want to pay a garage for this older car
The law says you can't park on the street for more than 7 days without moving the car. Every block has a nosy neighbor who will call the cops.
If you want to chance it anyway then go here NYC DOTMAP PORTAL
Zoom in on the neighborhood you want and click show addidional data and parking signs.
I know there is no alternate side in Glendale from 74 St to 79 La and 81 St to 87 St between Myrtle & Cooper but the neighborhood is full of people who love to call the police for every little thing.
Do you have a friend or family member who can move your car for you?
I know one can also park along parts of the service road of Grand Central Parkway (within Queens going toward Long Island) where there is no alternate side parking.
Are there areas in Brooklyn with no alternative side parking as well?
Probably any area that is not close to any trains. That's essentially how it works in Queens too. Just get out your Google map of Brooklyn and select any area that is not near a subway, go to street view and see if you see any parking signs. If you don't see any, it means there's no alternate side there.
I live in Bath Beach Brooklyn, we have alternate parking. I went on vacation for 2 weeks. I just left the car in the same spot, got 1 ticket, big deal. It was easier for me to pay the 45 dollars then to re locate my car etc......to me, I just included that 45 dollars inot my vacation money.
it was easier than bringing my car to my friends then leaving for vacation then re doing the whole process when I return.
ugh for 45 dollars, just suck it up.

Be sure to check the alt side parking suspension calendar to see if any of the days you are gone match days on the calendar. Then you pick a street that is slated for the suspended day of the week:

That's the law but it's rarely enforced. I know of one car that's been there for years and the underside is literally packed with debris / garbage right up to the frame of the car all the way around. In parts of Queens car shops and dealers will take off the plates and registration stickers and stow the vehicles on the street. People complain all the time and the city does absolutely nothing until Pix 11 sends help me Howard or some other reporter and then miraculously the tow trucks show up. So if they do nothing for months long abandoned cars you can be very confident nothing will happen for parking under 2 weeks (which is nothing in the winter when they suspend alternate side due to snow and some people don't move the car for even longer than that)
