I think that's kind of a stretch to say that. Cities like Newark, Paterson, etc are about as dense as a lot of North Shore neighborhoods. Sure, you have some buildings in certain parts, but for the most part, they're really not that dense. The only exception would be areas like Union City that are right across from Manhattan, but that's about it.

I think most of Hudson County is denser than North Shore Staten Island.

I've only lived in NYC for a little over three months, but I often travel around the city on weekends. SI is the only place in the city where I was briefly afraid for my life because of a commotion behind me. It was a deer in the woods.

it is actually nice to NOT have staten island another urban oasis, dont you think we have enough of that here in the other boroughs already.
