Hello,

I have a friend that is interested in moving here for a position in the Hicksville/Plainsview area. Main concern is affordable rent (<$1000 with roommates), access to car (I hear parking is not an issue like it is in Manhattan) and perhaps access to city via rail. She was also looking into eastern area of Queens that borders Long Island. This would be a temporary (~3 months) or so situation until she found something more permanent.

Believe it or not, it's still not that easy to find a parking space in the eastern area of Queens, just the rest of Queens.

Bayside Queens is a nice Suburban area that's close to the NYC urban environment. It's safe and you get more for your money. Check out their website BaysideQueens.com, Bayside New York (NY) interviews, events, politics, Queens NY radio station newspaper, magazine

Also Bayside isn't too far from Alley Pond Park. If she's outdoorsy then that could be a great place for her. They have a ropes course and great trails!

Is there a reason why she would want to live in eastern queens then in long island?
