Will be visiting NYC around Christmas. Would like to go to Rockefeller center and dance around the Christmas tree. Any other recommendations for a one day trip?

My main question is where to park my car. Does anyone know about an affordable garage parking that I could use. Street parking is not an option as I do not know how to parallel park. Please, share. Thx.

I work around by the rock center complex. Parking affordability & rock center area can't be in the same sentence. There is zero street parking by rock center.

for decades we always parked in the muni garage on 8th Ave between 53-54th streets, good location

we also parked in the Skyline Hotel garage(10th ave between 49-50th) but that is a bit far from RC

Here you go: NYC Parking Search Engine | Coupons & Discounts | BestParking.com

Pick a garage with a green icon, put your hours in, print the coupon, gotta pay with a credit card.

I know that there is a parking garage on 46th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues but I don't know the price.

That's a good tool to use but beware garages due fill up in midtown so have a back up one picked out as well. As you can see prices vary.

Do yourself a favour and park somewhere *away* from RC be it on the street or in a garage. Prices for the latter will probably be cheaper elsewhere than midtown and you can probably find decent and safe street parking on the UWS or UES, especially if you aren't planning to stay over night.

Plenty of friends, family or what have you driven into Manhattan for a day of "fun" and park their car on the UES. From there they hop a taxi or take a train to where they need to go.

If you're coming from a location that has a train or a bus, you could consider leaving the car at home.

Yes, and no.

Staten Island has plenty of buses and or taking the ferry into Manhattan, but for my money would always drive. Same for Conn, NJ and other areas.

There just is something to be said for being able to roll on your own schedule and have "door to door" service so to speak.
