Paterson got some pretty rough projects....but ENY is pretty much among the best of worst when it comes to bad neighborhoods in ENY. So whatever you saw New Years Eve, I'm not surprised. ENY got Spanish too though. Maybe a few decent blocks with hardworking people here and there but it's overall a slum.

Euclid and PITKIN...why would anyone want to live there?!!

That has to be the most depressing area in the city, most people who live there are trying to get OUT not IN

Exactly...most people get more money and move OUT.. I can't explain to myself why I am interested in moving into this area.

Cant decide which is worse, being a cop there or living there.

It's indeed a gritty and gloomy area, especially at night. He/she was actually at ENY proper near the City Line area. Pitkin can be quite gloomy and gritty, not much stuff of interest around. I can see why Death Wish 4 with Charles Bronson was filmed in ENY (when it was at it's worst).

There are a lot of shady individuals, I think there is also a group homes and homeless shelters nearby also. I would Break East Brooklyn into several areas - ENY proper (composes New Lots), City Line (bordered by Atlantic Ave and the Conduit), Cypress Hills (north of Atlantic Ave), The Hole (south of the Conduit and Elderts Lane) and Spring Creek-Starret City (south of Flatlands Ave).

Google Maps and other programs are no longer showing City Line or Cypress Hills as part of East New York.
