I heard that there might be a big snowstorm this Sunday...someone I know said it could be something like 30 inches??? Is that true? Has anyone heard something similar?
The news this morning just said that there is another storm Sunday, but didn't get into specifics regarding amounts...
Yes, there is a forecast for snow on Sunday. I have not heard anyone mention accumulation of 30 inches though.
We are also expecting snow tonight but just a few inches according to the latest forecast I saw.

Some of the computer models they use for forecasting have been showing a blockbuster storm for Sunday/Monday but some of the other models have been showing a much less significant event.When the computers are in disagreement they( forecasters) don't know what to do so they don't say much.They are too chicken to actually use their own minds and skills.They will let us know what they think only after the computer models tell them what to say.

UGH, I really hope the forecast for less is the accurate one.
The 30 inches was based on a European storm model. Really we will have to wait until closer to Sunday to see. No reason to declare a new ice age but some extra food, supplies etc is a good idea. We are having a real winter this year.

That European model has had a pretty good record lately and should not be readily dismissed. It was really the only one that early on predicted Sandy's right hook smashing into New Jersey. Plus there was another storm that it was uniquely correct with.

Well,all that video does is prove that the weather people are no longer meteorologists.They are computer forecast readers and they are waiting for the computers to tell them with more certainty what they think will happen. In the old days they used to use their skills,developed over years and made forecasts based on their skills. Many of them had a better track record in predicting major weather events than these guys do with their computer printouts.You used to learn who was a good meteorologist and who wasn't by the accuracy of their forecasting.Now everyone just spews out the same computer generated crap and it's only right about 1/2 the time,even from 12 hours out.
