Whole Foods will rip you off big time. A friend refers to it as the "food museum". Wonderful food artifacts to look at but cost a fortune to purchase.
Hopefully Harlem Residents won't be dumb enough to buy into it.
It's bad enough people are selling half a sandwich for $8 and trying to pass it off as a full sandwich. Has anyone noticed this trend ? Rip offs like these usually come in the wrap form of sandwiches where they fill both ends but the middle seems to be missing.
These places need to stay in manhattan where people like to throw money away.
Good thing that Harlem isn't in Manhattan... or isn't it?

Technically yes but if you grew up in NYC you would know that Harlem Residents consider Harlem as HARLEM and Manhattan as a different world. These days it might be different though due to gentrification.
I usd to work in whole foods downtown a few ago and they do take food stamps I never saw anyone using WIC but I would assume so. It is a grocery store.

"Harlem Residents" ...?
Who are apparently now a proper name with a designated spokesperson.
Harlem is part of Manhattan. Most people who are not natives do not realize this.
Of course they take whatever grocery stores take, EBT, debit, cash, credit. You see people paying with WIC and EBT at the 99th Street store and at Columbus Circle.
Whole Foods is cheaper on many things than the C-Town-type stores. As has been discussed in many threads by people with actual experience. In addition to being cheaper, the generic brand items are also vastly higher quality than anywhere else.

Whole Foods is already in Brooklyn with another location opening up in Williamsburg, and of course you have Whole Foods in the suburbs.
And even small shop Manhattan delis are not cheap. Outside maybe some Chinese places and Middle Eastern trucks you can't expect to eat lunch for LESS than $10 (and even $10 is basically NOTHING). Compared to how much other things cost in the city, Whole Foods is not expensive.

True and true. I used to do most of my shopping at Whole Foods and Trader Joes. I loved getting things like whole wheat pasta from Whole Foods, certain produce items, etc. And they often were cheaper than Trader Joes.
The secret about cities is that the ****ty food found in poor bodegas and run down grocery stores is usually more expensive than it is in name brand grocery stores.
