Already yesterday morning (and I think Saturday evening) the weather forecast predicted that the bulk of the snowfall would be along the Jersey shore and that here in the city it would be between 2-4 inches tops. Yesterday evening I heard 2 inches were predicted. So the forecast changes as it is closer to the actually storm. People need to remember that weather can't be always be accurately predicted in advance.
Ha!! I'm not complaining. I was hoping that it wasn't anything crazy. We did counter a pretty rough winter thus far this year but hopefully from here on out it'll die down. I'll easily take freezing temps for the rest of March if it just doesn't snow again! I LOVE snow in the mountains I HATE snow in the city.
Scores of Sanitation trucks equipped with plows wandering around (or sitting ) with nothing to do last night. Ditto for salt trucks with same. Most seemed to be parked in front of delis, coffee places or whatever if not just "parked" with occupants busy with their phones or doing something to pass the time.
Buses going up Third Avenue had chains on rear wheels making a God awful racket. In one case it must have caused problems because a bus was being escorted "empty" back to the depot.
Don't know if taxi drivers decided to take the night off but finding on in our part of Manhattan was *not* easy. People stood for ten, fifteen, twenty minutes or longer and still couldn't hail one.
Oh well at least ASP was suspended, so that is something.

I don't understand what's so hard about collecting trash if there's a plow mounted on the front. They should all be doing their runs as usual up until when/if they are instructed to plow the roads

Sanitation rubbish trucks that are plowing normally only have a driver, not the two person crew used to collect. Also if you've ever seen some of the maneuvers made by such when collecting you don't want a big ole plow attached to the front of a truck. It just isn't safe for persons or the equipment for that matter.
