Hello
Im trying to apply for a student metrocard to save money on my commute to school. Do i have to fill out any forms online or do students get metrocards at school? Also, can monthly unlimited student metrocards be purchased? Thanks

Have you considered calling the MTA to ask?

As far as I know student Metrocards are only for K-12, and to get one you have to go through the particular school you attend. I've never heard of them at discount or free for college students. But I haven't heard everything, so if this is true I stand corrected.

All students are issued Metro Cards by the school, either at full-fare or half-fare, depending on the student's address.

Not all students. Only those who are eligible. If you live more than a half mile from your school, you get a full fare card.

If you qualify, you get them automatically. (They do it based on how far you live from the school, based on the guide below).

You get it at the school in the beginning of Fall & Spring semester.

student metrocards are for elementary, junior high school and high school students. If you don't fall in anyone of those you need to buy your own metrocard.

you acquire a student metrocard at the school that you attend by filling out some paperwork.

Yeah, student metrocards are handed out IN LIEU of yellow bus service because you are outside of a 1.5 mile radius from your school. Also, they only work during school hours and you cannot use them at night or on weekends.
