Well...it is the Bronx again...many saying it is gentrifying but it seems to me to be more like a step backward in 2014...

School lockdowns because of police actions outside the buildings or because of kids or intruders with weapons inside happen quite frequently all over the city. Not really sure why this particular lockdown is news.My school has been locked down 3 times this year and it was never in the news at all.

leoliu the entire Edenwald section of the Bronx is far from gentrifying. Projects and Jamaicans are all up in that area. Now I love my Jamaican breadren, but a lot... and I mean A LOT of them are hot headed.

It was about 9am, doing my contracting job and I had a group of three boys comes up to me and ask if I was a cop... I said to them "Do I look like a cop?".. they run into a house with boarded up windows. Buddies told me it was probably a "trap house"( place to sell drugs and distro money)

http://www.bedbugpestcontrolbronx.co...ebronx-map.jpg - The pink section up top, Danger Danger. Melrose, Mott haven, Hunts Point, Claremont, Concourse... Just some of a real offenders.

Sure crime happens everywhere, but in these neighborhoods it's condensed.

These neighborhoods where the shootings have been happening lately - these neighborhoods have been bad for the past 40-50 years. There are more good areas in the city now than they were 40 years ago, so now when something bad happens its amplified.

Why are we reading this? NYS has Cuomo's SAFE Act. Oopsy! Cuomo forgot: Criminals don't obey laws.

I pray that none of the children saw this man shot.

They probably see other people get shot as a normal course of daily living.

Sort of an odd twist to this story: Dwayne Reid charged in shooting of Lamont Smith outside P.S. 112 - News 12 Bronx

"According to police, 43-year-old Dwayne Reid, of Larchmont, killed 45-year-old Lamont Smith, of Yonkers, in front of P.S. 112 on Schieffelin Avenue."

It's not really fair that the 47th gets blemished with another murder when both the perp and the victim are from Westchester.
