You never know what kind of talents are hidden in the bronx. He might be a trained heavy weight boxer who lost his job lately.

It's funny how the word "tourist" has connotations of wealth and socio-economic status. If the victim had been visiting from Colombia, Libya or Haiti, would he have been called a tourist by the press?

It's natural that it has those connotations, since traveling for leisure implies that you have disposable income to spend on things like that.
