What's the ratio of men to woman in sanitation ?do they have the woman mostly driving the trucks?
The ratio is still wayyyyyyyy more men. There are currently over 6200 san workers and under 200 are women. Statistically the largest percentage of female workers do indeed work in broom garages. But there's plenty picking up garbage, at transfer stations, on the police force etc.

Aren't a good amount of females recyclers as well?
My brother in law just transferred there, he's not a fan lol
Family friend is a steward though and says it's the best, different strokes for different folks
It's like this, my 15 years wouldn't mean anything there. You need 20 to be carefree in that place, with all the tissues and senior men. And I don't run for nobody unless I feel like it, so it ain't my thing. That being said, it's often overlooked by probies transferring from other places and that's a mistake. If you wanna be close to home and just do your probation without chiefs breathing down your neck, it's gold. They clean 99% of the time so management doesn't bother them. But once your off unless you like it, transfer to SI.
My place? Lol I don't reveal that info but let's just say we are not liked and that's fine with me. Probies get taught quickly how to work safely and by the book.

What's overlooked by probies? I'm just just trying to understand fully, Dirty.

He means the garage itself. And he's 100 percent correct. More than half the force lives on Staten island and they can't all work there right so they start out in the Bronx or the miserable Manhattan garages and they hear the famous "you'll never make it to Staten Island" so they look to Brooklyn south. And they all want 6, 11, 10, and 15. Usually in that order. Then someone will start the "yeah but junior guys have an easier time getting into 12 or 14." Then someone will mention that 7 is junior and close to SI though the juniorest routes can be tough. Finally someone will bring up how awesome 18 is but someone else will remind us how awfully far it is for a Staten Island guy. Then the conversation will end and 13 will never come up lol
