NY Daily News will no longer refer to the Washington Redskins by the name "Redskins".

Sack the name* - NY Daily News

Simply pathetic. Don't we have bigger problems to be worrying about, than this nonsense?
I for one am sick of these media people trying to make the news rather than just reporting it.

To be honest, I can't believe that in 2014 they would still have the name "redskins".

Do you really NOT find anything WRONG with this?

No, seriously. You don't?

There are so many other cooler names they could call themselves.

Why keep the name Redskins? It's racist. Always has been.

What if there was a team called the Chicago Chinks?

Or Washington Wetb--cks?

I'm still mad that the Bullets caved in and changed their name. Anyway, the name was never intended as derogatory. Maybe they should switch indigines and call themselves "blackfellas".

The daily snooze has just shot themselves in the leg by this decision. Does common sense in the media exist anymore?

How?

How can not being disrespectful to an entire race of people be a "bad" thing?

I've asked this question twice in this thread and no one has been able to explain why.

You should.

Anyway, this is the time for them to choose a name that can really make them stand out and sound memorable.

I actually like the Washington Wizards name and yes, I know it's taken, but I'm sure they can find something on this level or better.
