A wealthy hedge-fund chief was gunned down by his adult son after he threatened to cut his allowance by a $100 a week and stop paying his steep rent, cops said Monday.
Spoiled manchild Thomas Gilbert Jr., 30, flew into a murderous rage when he confronted his fed-up dad, Thomas Gilbert Sr., 70, over the downsizing of financial support, police said.
“He was on a stipend from the family. Looks like he was in debt,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said of the accused killer.
The freeloading son, a Princeton grad, shot his father once in the head with a .40-caliber Glock 22 handgun Sunday afternoon inside his parents’ multimillion-dollar Beekman Place apartment, police said.
So the son had the rent of $2400 paid, and he received a $600 monthly allowance, while his father was about to cut it to $400, and this is enough to shoot him in the head?
This is scary. I don't know if there is anything to learn except the fact that the son really didn't understand anything about life. What benefit could he possibly get to go to prison for $200 / month? Or did he think he would never get caught at all?
Being in debt does not help, but to see how financial distress can lead to such tragedies is so disappointing for humanity. We have a long way to go to teach people that being in debt should never be the end of life. Couldn't he declare bankruptcy?
the "good son" burned down the house of a former friend in the Hamptons, over a woman they were both interested in. He also killed their family dog.Killing his own father over $200 was just one step up in the descent into his downfall. He escalated. How do you burn an entire home down and kill the family pet over a woman? You're a sociopath. Kookoo...and then on top of that your own father over money? Sick. They'll have some real fun with in prison.

He is a spoiled white kid from a very rich family so he will probably never see a prison.Mommy has all the money now and she will do everything possible to protect her little boy, just as she has done his whole life so far. That's the root of the whole problem.
They are already laying the groundwork for his defense, saying that he suffered from"severe" OCD and was off his meds.

So this guy has $600 to walk around NYC with per month. What can you do with $600 ???? There was more to the story than that. Some people who come from these types of families have some serious in fighting.
We don;t know the whole story. The father could have been an abusive prick.
