7-11 is one of the worst over-priced stores i have been to. everything there is actually more money than a corner bodega. at least if it had great low prices to help people out, that would be something but this place does nothing for the community.
^ you know what he means. 7-11 is a national chain and they certainly don't need you speaking up for them.
It's like animal rights activists calling for the protection of rats. Like rats/roaches/weeds, the chains will spread and take over whether you like it or not.

There's difference. If a big box moves in, it's shear size can push out other businesses because it takes over what would have been multiple storefronts on a given block. So the locals have to compete with a physically bigger store where there are now less spaces available. 7-11 doesn't do this. They're ususally the same one storefront wide as the locals. So, essentially, they're just another bodega, but his one being a national franchise.
Oh, and since they're a franchise, and not a chain, they're as locally owned as the other bodegas. They just have national branding.
We need better sources of goods and services. It doesn't matter who provides that.
I have some business that takes me out to NJ on a regular basis. There's a Walmart near where I'm working, and I shop at it now occasionally. They should be building these all over NYC. It's eons better than all the POS little bodegas and supermarkets in most of the city.

Completely not true... the owner of the franchise for all you know owns 100+ other stores all in other cities and states. Not saying that's the situation but just because it's a franchise doesn't mean it's locally owned.
