Photos are beginning to surface regarding the surprise guests that will end up attending Letterman's final show today. What are your favorite moments during Letterman's career? Did you ever attend a taping of the show in NYC? What was the experience like?
Never had an opportunity to attend the Late Show in person...tickets are extremely difficult to get and the show tapes in the late afternoon when most people who are employed can't go.
Letterman jumped the shark in the late 90s and became an unfunny ninny. He became very aware of his Jewishness and lost the WASP veneer he had cultivated for most of his life.
He used to be hilarious back in the NBC days though.
I wonder if the assistants who gave him sexual favors will show up for the taping.
I was there for the taping of the infamous Andy Kaufman/Jerry Lawler episode on NBC and I saw him in London when he came over to film for a week. Both times he was great but as the years went on he turned into a grumpy old man. Still has great timing, though.
David Letterman after Johnnie Carson was and is my Favorite Talk Show Host/ Commedian.
What he has done for comedy and the late night talk shows, as well as his generosity regarding some other comedians is to be applauded. I wish him well.
After he came back on the air after the September 11 attacks 2001. It was one of the first things I watched that was not related to terrorism during those weeks.
I saw him at an Oprah taping right after their supposed feud. I wasn't impressed with either of them.
