i'm originally from maui and considering moving to manhattan after school, but i go to arizona for school... in terms of cost of living, it seems like there's not much of a big difference between the two.. living in maui for a long time seems like i'm used to the high cost of living.. what do you guys think?

You should viist NYC first - I've visited Maui three times, it is a world of difference. Before you pick up and come here, you should make sure that the lifestyle here is right for you.

Also, may sure you have a job paying at least 50,000 a year minimum - otherwise, you aren't going to be able to make it. Cost of living in NYC is the same as Maui - but it is a much more miserable life if you don't have the money!

No problem, glad I could help.

Are you thinking of moving into Manhattan or one of the outer boroughs? 80k may be kind of tight for a Manhattan apartment unless you have a roommate. You could go into a nicer part of Queens with that, and probably the other boroughs.
