We all know how pricey real estate is in NYC compared to the rest of the country, but here's some photos of what 1,000 bucks gets you around the US including shots from bed stuy and little Italy
the nyc picture was hand picked to look much worse then the rest . . it is dark , messy and pretty crappy looking compared to the nicely shot and staged other shots .
of course it is skewed because of pay differences . what 1000 bucks gets you in alabama for a middle class life style compared to nyc is night and day but so is the salary's .almost 68k qualify's for a nyc housing project in nyc . in Houston that is a middle class lifestyle . you have cops earning as much as 6 digits iin the nyc long island area .
when we were going to relocate to the pocono's in pa the cost of living was lower then here . we figured out we could do with about 1/3 less income but pay was less then 1/2 .
so looking at rents without considering what it takes to live a middle class lifestyle is not comparing apples to apples
