NYPD officers will patrol trains overnight to combat subway crime | New York's PIX11 / WPIX-TV

So there will be an officer on every train at night to deter crime. From 8pm to 4am. This is to deter the recent outbreak of slashings.

I'm think they may soon randomly check people for weapons.

After Sept. 11th the police had the riot to randomly stop people (terrorism fears).

Great idea. They should also disallow cops from being able to park anywhere they please around police stations thus forcing many of them to take public transportation to and from work like the rest of us.

Agree, 100% good idea they should be taking public transportation. This will show their presents 24 hours around the clock.
This will help deter crime in all five boroughs.

They should use auxiliary cops not actual cops. Maybe actual cops in the tourist areas and high crime area.

Is that like a mall cop? Use to know this goofball that was an aux cop. I'd rather they use real cops rather than rejects that like to play make believe.

You've never worked as a first responder and aren't really qualified to speak on how things work.

So now beat cops should be required to bring gifts for civilians?

How does one need to be qualified to suggest that it would best serve the public if cops took public transportation? And they are public servants are they not? Please explain.

They must have the luxury of being able to drive to work and get free parking because "blank".

Please fill in blank.

First and foremost, off duty cops would not be in uniform while traveling to and from work. Their "presents" in public in street clothes would do nothing to deter crime.

If there is a crime they can stop it no? Or would they just watch? Its like having a doctor on a plane when someone gets sick. Does it prevent people from getting sick? No, but if someone does get sick they would be life saving. Or is this too much a burden on them and they should get OT for commuting on public transit.
