Which failing schools? And how much is plenty?

Your now-really-quite-boring anti-charter school crusade is getting the best of you AMSS.

Here is an excellent documentary on race, intelligence, and school performance.

Not really. Try not project or you look silly and flustered. Given that the majority of kids getting into Stuyvescent come through the public schools, I'd say "plenty". And to NYWriterDude....yes, Success students have taken the exam. That is not an exam anyone has early access to and former Success teachers say that in addition to doing nothing but test drilling, the school also has had acces in the past to the state exam before hand. Top that off with being able to select students and not having to backfill...it makes sense that their test scores are high.

This is consistent with what I have heard, and from people whose opinions are worth considering.

You may have realized by now that regarding charter schools, the blanket-accepting types are usually in favor of privatization writ large and know nothing about education- and are always neo-liberals or conservatives.

You can put people whose opinions are not worth considering on "ignore" - I did.
Quite a few actually, and all of the "flustered" sort.

Oh jeeze, back with the same worn flannel you keep trying to sell?

There's now actual studies, including some published this month, about the myth of "cherry-picking" - studies which put forward actual stats on retention - not political ideology. Of course they are not linked on the histrionic anti-choice education blogs or on a pamphlet dished out by Mr. Mulgrew - so hands-over-the-ears people like HR no nothing of them.

I suppose one would expect the anti-choice propagandists (and vested Union interests) with 3 decades of school failure and graduation rates to put their hands over their ears about that one (or use the "ignore" feature) since its never been about actual results for students for them - its about ideology. Political ideology above all else.

If only the anti-choice crowd had expended the energy they waste on trying to deny choice to others (mainly poor non-Asian minorities) on actually improving public schools and addressing abysmal safety records and graduation rates that are still jaw-droppingly awful.
