I am a Canadian student who is going to study in New York. I would like to find a part-time job while studying to earn some spare change. Is it easy for foreigner to find an entry-level job in New York? Do I need some kind of working visa as a Canadian? Thank you.
Yes, you do need a visa valid for working in NYC. I would suggest you contact the US consulate nearest you in Canada for complete (and accurate) information.
Better yet, if you are going to NYU like I think some of your posts have indicated, they should have an international office that can answer all these types of questions. You are surely not the first foreign student to attend NYU.

Plenty of illegals delivering food or working in kitchens in NYC.
If you're on a student visa, you're alowed to work 20 hours/week on campus (including cafes, bookshops etc) during semester and fulltime in summer. Also the option to get endorsed to work off campus, though you have to prove extreme hardship I think. I last looked into all this almost a year ago so it may have changed. And I suspect that as a Canadian you might get a slightly better visa deal than the rest of the world.
You'll have to try to get an H1B or T1 visa. I don't think you can work at all on a student visa, but I might be mistaken. The hardest part will be convincing an employer to go to the trouble and cost of sponsoring you. Plus they have to demonstrate the job is only termporary and that they couldn't find an American to fill it unless its part of the H1B lottery.
America is the land of opportunity and there's a long line up of very qualified foreigners that want to work and live here so I would imagine the competition is pretty intense, especially here in New York, which is already ultra competitive with just Americans.
Oops just reread your post. Yeah I don't think you can get just a PT nickel and dime job on a student visa.
