Yeah guys, I forgot to mention it was indeed Uberpool.
Brief history of Uberpool - 50th Street to 143rd Street, Bronx - $7.52 (Recurring trip Thursdays. Usually pool with 0-2, leaning closer to zero) 10:30 PM
Hudson Street to 15th Street - $3.00 (Pooled with 3 riders) 6:00 PM
143rd Street, Bronx to Dekalb Avenue 211th Street, Bronx - $9.26 (Pooled with 0 riders) 10:56 PM
143rd Street, Bronx to Brady Avenue, Bronx $8.99 (Pooled 1 riders) 2:56 AM
A few trips in the past hit double digits, but I was way lower downtown.
Hudson Street to 143rd Street, Bronx cost $20. My most expensive fare. Everything else was way cheaper than that.
I haven't been in a yellow ever since ridesharing apps came out. When I can get to the Bronx from the Midtown area for less than $10 most nights, I don't even care if the driver has to make a few stops along the way. The price is just too convenient.
Most times I really on subway unless I'm feeling really lazy, tired or drunk.
Avoid rush hour - 7;30 to 9;00am and 5;00 pm to 7pm. Make sure you leave your hotel after 9 am and you are doing some activity at 5-7pm. These times are super crazy for Train, Bus, and Taxi/Uber.
Yes, bad times! Also, if you want a cab, 4:00-5:00 is not a great time to find one because it's shift change, and you'll have a significant reduction in the # of available cabs.
I agree with the other posters: take the subway.
My wife and I will be vacationing in NYC for a few days.
On our last trip to Boston, we used Uber to get around and didn't have any issues. We didn't use the T at all over there.
But I realize this is NYC, where the traffic is likely worse.
Any tips on using Uber vs other modes of transportation (subway, taxi, etc.)?
I don't mind spending more if it means more convenience and getting to places quicker.
I like that with Uber I don't have to be dealing with as many people as I would on the subway. And usually the driver arrives in less than 5 minutes (at least that was the case in Boston).
Any tips/suggestions? Thanks.
The easiest way to get around at all times not raining/snowing is bicycle. Non rush hours and uber or taxi is fine. When the streets are clogged you should use the subway and deal with the animals
Just keep in mind we have one of the worst mayors in history currently in office who is refusing to confront the homeless, so they're p|ssing on the trains and subway stations and riding the trains is often a disgusting experience now. It's just a matter of time before he bankrupts the city and everything else spirals
Another vote for subway. We used to live in NYC and used subway for everything. Last summer we came back for a week's vacation to see friends/family and went everywhere via subway. We bought a week's unlimited pass and it was the cheapest option to get EVERYWHERE in the city.
And I agree with BlakeJones that the subway is not nearly as nice/clean as it was in the 1990s/2000s - it's like 1980s NYC all over again.
But it is still worth getting a subway pass for the week versus doing taxis or Uber.
I pay $14.00 or so from SoHo to 179 st. Uberpool is 2.99 to 8.00 from SoHo to 179 st
Uber Flat rates are back. Get them while they last!!!
$3.99 POOL and $9.99 uberX rides. Flat fares apply to rides up to a $20 value on uberPOOL and a $25 value on uberX (based on time and distance). If your total ride cost exceeds the maximum value, you’ll be charged the flat fare, plus an overage for the dollar amount over the maximum ride value covered. And don’t worry, if the total ride cost is ever less than the flat fare, we’ll charge you the lesser amount.
Uber Tiddays rates are back. Get them while the Tiddays are out!!!
$3.99 POOL and $9.99 uberX rides. Tidday fares apply to rides up to a $20 value on uberPOOL and a $25 value on uberX (based on time and distance). If your Tidday cost exceeds the maximum value, you’ll be charged the Tidday fare, plus an overage for the dollar amount over the maximum ride value covered. And don’t worry, if the total Tidday cost is ever less than the Tidday, we’ll charge you the lesser Tidday.
Isn't Lyft and Via cheaper
