The farmers market sells food from Northeastern farms, not food grown in NYC. But considering industrial contamination of much of the ground in NYC, it is unwise to randomly eat wild plants.

As for homegrown produce from people's yards, well if it's your house you can have you soil tested for chemicals to see if your soil is contaminated.

For the meat lovers Pinterest has pigeon and goose recipes that actually look good. If there is an apocalypse that is what i am going for. I am heading for the parks close to la guardia lol. Alot of parks in queens have wild turtles too and fish.

That's what I thought, but according to the article some of them sell real local veggies. Look at the caption in the picture:

"A vendor works a Brooklyn farmers market that sells veggies from East New York Farms garden, where carrots were found with unsafe levels of lead."

And how many people actually get their soil tested. I grow my own veggies and never had my soil tested, but the area where I live in was a golf course/farm almost 100 years ago before houses were built.

A lot of people do. And not just for contamination, farmers get their soil tested to find out the nutrient mix and to find out what fertilizers will be best. Every county in the nation has an extension office that does this. Cornell Extension does this in all counties of New York.

Better to get your soil tested as opposed to getting LEAD or ARSENIC poisoning. Or some other poisoning.

Or just buy your vegetables from the grocery store, as the store and distributors will be legally responsible for selling you contaminated produce.

NYC pigeons, like rats, have built up a high tolerance to poisons. Even the hawks in NYC have built up a high tolerance to poisons. In short you might not want to eat NYC wildlife.

No person in their right mind is going to eat NYC wildlife. What's next solving the city rat problem by hunting them and cooking them?

Lol right? I am sure 400 degrees heat and smoke flavor will take care of that.
