Cuomo has ordered the removal of confederate monuments at Bronx Community College.

Meanwhile, a Brooklyn church has removed it's confederate plaques.

So the Charlottesville riots this weekend are already having huge effects, even here in NYC.
Why would they have confederates statues in the bronx?

I thought the tree in brooklyn was neat trivia and cutting the plaque down seemed like overkill. Now no one will know where the tree came from.

I think trump and his daughter have an incestuous relationship like ra's al gul and talia from batman.

I do not mind that jackson is on the $20. He was a patriot and a federalist. He pimp slapped south carolina and john c. calhoun for trying to punk him. He did not take crap.

I'd be ok if they replaced jackson with Harriet tubman or some native american woman on the $20 bill since he was not in favor of banks.

Those two populists are just as responisble for the problems in the city as trump is with the rest of the country. There policy don't have any vision or foresight. Niether of them are helping the infrastructure. Too bad Preet couldn't put both of them in Jail.

Too bad Preet wasn't born in the US. I'd vote for him for president. He would actually drain the swamp.

Since columbus was probably catholic, it will probably be the white supremacists since they are supposed to be wasps and do not like papists. Next thing to go after columbus day will be st. patty's day since that is catholic as well. Can't have people have allegiance to a foreign power. They would be like muslims praying to mecca.

I could care less. My focus on myself, my family, our health and our finances.

Taking them down or leaving them up don't affect us one bit

Let the drama queens worry about that

Tear it all down. Still doesn't change history.

Tear down every political or patriotic monument ever built in the US and the people will still know who these characters of US history were from George Washington to today.

Tear down Bob Ed Lee's statues and people will still know he was a traitor to the US who fought to keep people as property.

These statues and monuments are just propaganda put up by the Daughters of the Confederacy over the years. They succeeded in spreading these monuments all over the country. Even to the Bronx. Good thing they stayed home during the Civil War because they seem to be better promoters of the cause than the Confederate military ever was. If these southern chicas had fought the civil war things may have gone badly for us all.

He would have been for the Confederacy. He owned hundreds of slaves to work on his plantation. Besides, the Civil war wasn't really about slavery. It was about succession of the Southern states that had commerce and trade disagreements with the North.

I think Jackson would have would be for the Union just like Washington and Hamilton would have been. This was a man who fought in the revolution and the war of 1812. Washington would not have tolerated sedition or secession and put down shay's rebellion. He owned slaves too.

Jackson scared south carolina into submission for even thinking about succession during the nullifcation crisis.

Urinate on John C Calhoun's grave!

I'm sure in 30 years Columbus Circle will be renamed Farrakhan Freeway or something...

Trump International Hotel is actually located in Columbus Circle. Can you believe the nerve of this guy?

Further proof of the racism.

Hopefully the Clinton's and DeBlasio can repossess the building and turn it into a homeless shelter for those who have been affected by his words.

In fact, two were taken down in Brooklyn, one in the Bronx.

Is it really all that different from Nazi book burnings to erase an inconvenient history?
