Lets be honest here. Columbus did not attack Iroquois, Chactaw, Cheyenne, Apache, Cherokee, Algonquin, Navajo, Mohawk, Senaca Indians. Columbus only attacked Indians after his first colony in Haiti called La Navidad was massacred by the Caribs. Caribs often fought with the Tiano Indians and captured Tiano Indians as booty. I don't think Native Americans in America should be angry at Columbus because he did not attack them. Native Americans should be angry at the British who where against them, and later the Americans who took over the British position after the British were ousted after the Battle of Yorktown in Virginia and the Evacuation day in NYC. America expanded slavery by taking away more and more Native American land which ended up being used for farming purposes. But overall to me, Columbus is a symbol of overall European White Supremacy. He is an "Explorer", a "Conquer", a "Crusader", and a "Mercantilist". He found new lands, he conquered, lands and its people, he helped with the conversion of many to the Catholic faith, he also started the early founding's of the Columbian system trade between Europe, Africa and Americas. Much of the commodity was slaves. Columbus even said that these people will make great slaves. This was according to a priest named Bartholomew De Las Casas.
If they're going to get rid of Columbus statues and change the name of Columbus Day then it should remain ITALIAN. Why should Italian-Americans lose their parade after making such an impact on NYC. Change it to Verrazzano or Garibaldi Day and move on.

I think that could make sense. Change it without a loss to a community and make a separate day for Native Americans.
