Sh**t Im Puerto Rican myself and I partially agree with DeBlasio, New York City is a very expensive and competitive town, it has a strong "dog eat dog" type culture, sink or swim. So I do agree with the notion it wouldnt be wise to move into this type of atmosphere without some type of support or huge amounts of money/a good job. Most blacks (& some Hispanics) either have family/job connections and/or been here for generations.

However, many immigrants from countries like Mexico, Jamaica, and China have come here without support and DeBlasio supports and encourages that, so it does seem a little racist that he's discouraging Puerto Ricans from doing the same exact thing

In any event, while NYC will get its fair share along with numerous other cities especially in eastcoast states, the metropolitan areas of Orlando and Philadelphia will get the lion's share. PR will likely loss 600k people between 2017 catergory 5 hurrricane aftermath and 2020 census, with half going to those 2 cities.

Here is the thing in a nutshell; while many of the Latinos/Hispanics and others here in NYC atm who are illegals cannot vote and or have the other rights conferred by US citizenship; Puerto Ricans have no such problems.

Any large scale arrival of Puerto Ricans into New York City would vastly upset the current Democratic apple cart. There is still enough of a PR political "machine" that can and likely could push their "refugee agenda". That again would upset many carefully laid plans by Mexicans, Dominicans and other Latino/Hispanic groups in NYC that have moved into the void created as PR numbers declined.

Also remember that until rather recently Puerto Ricans were the dominate Latino/Hispanic group here in NYC, and all that entails.

Going down the names of notable PRs from NYC you will find plenty in government positions today, such as current CC speaker, an Congresswoman and so forth.

Then you have this great lady!

How much do these couple of vendepatria Puerto Rican's who are backing Malliotakis think she will support them?

DeBlasios contempt for Puerto Rican's and his white racism are already well known. He is backing the anti-Puerto Rican forced removal plan for East Harlem
you are either trolling here, or just super naive to the facts.

Yet Diblasio welcomes and gives incentives to homeless from around the world with no family or connection to NYC by putting them up in hotel rooms for 600 dollars a night.

YEP! Junkies from Michigan can come here, get put up in housing and hotels that cost insane amounts of money, kill their babies because of their disgusting actions, and yet our citizens truly in need should be advised NOT to come here? f off, deblasio.

DiBlasio had a tin ear to say that. It's obvious that coming here with no family, no support, and no job is not a good idea. Anybody with half a brain realizes that. (And that's true for all people, not just Puerto Rican hurricane survivors.)
But this was just the wrong time, the wrong way, and the wrong place to say it. A tin ear moment if ever there was one.

He never told the Ohioan crusties that are out panhandling on every major intersection in the city to not come here.
