What likewise developed peer country currently has a significantly worse social welfare policies than the US?

Worse by my standards or yours? Depends, but either way I think we can agree that we'd both rather live here.

What we do know is that the continuous growth of social welfare programs in developed countries only hinders the ability of developing countries to be able to catch-up to the already developed world. That is at least until the developed countries progress their social welfare to the point of a national debt crisis.

There are a couple of ways you can do this probably. You can explicitly lay out a set of criteria that have measurable parts to it or try finding an existing criteria that you can more easily find research backing it.

I do like NYC, though there's probably some set of conditions where I'd leave as is true for most people. I do think NYC gets in several ways a less than equitable deal from both the state and the country and the policies of the state and country are sometimes not great.

I'd like to hear about that second paragraph there. Many developing countries have had their standards of living improve rapidly in many ways over the last two decades (if standard of living is inclusive of things like higher life expectancy, lower infant mortality rate, higher literacy rate), but perhaps you're saying that developed countries are doing so faster in some way? Anyhow, let's see what you're thinking.

I don’t see it passing. In present day. there are way too many white folks who are receiving food stamps that will be outraged. Welfare queens are not limited to one or two races. Not only that, but this move will affect national food & grocery manufacturers & retailers bottom lines. Food stamps play a integral part in the sales & foot traffic in grocery stores

This is a prime example of the government going into dictatorship state. They don’t have the right to select and force what to eat for you

- Military personnel on the front lines of battle to protect this country often live on MRE's (meals ready to eat). Those meals are less appealing than what is being proposed for people on public assistance.

- People who are having money taken out of their paychecks to fund these programs have a right to say how that money is spent.

- People on public assistance should be repaying society in the form of work in one form or another. They can start by cleaning up all the dog crap on the sidewalks in NYC.

This statement is so ridiculous. This is like blaming a store for being dictatorial because they stock certain types of food or a restaurant offering only certain foods or a school cafeteria having a limited of choices or a vending machine stocking only certain candies, thus determing what you eat.

You do realize that you have a right to not patronize that store/restaurant/cafeteria/vending machine just like you have a right to not eat anything the government offers, right? If you want to eat lobster or macaroni or Jello or duck or rat, you are free to buy it using your own money. There is no dictatorship.
