If you are leaving the Lex Ave 86 St Subway Stop on the south side of the Street, down by 3rd Ave, there are no signs posted saying no parking or even street sweeping…wasnt sure if youve seen that before and if that is safe parking or not.

Ok, you leave the IRT subway at 86th and Lexington and walk east towards Third avenue......

Yes, can assure you there are plenty of various traffic signs up and down 86th from Central Park (Fifth Avenue) to East End.

Depending where on 86th you are between Lexington and Third you've got:

Alternate Side Parking Street Cleaning
Meter Rules
Construction

Oh and don't forget the various bus stops as well.

Signs may not be on corners, but they are there, you just have to look for them and see which way arrows are directed.

Since MTA began Select Bus Service for the M86, good parts of that street have become "No Parking" during certain hours. Again you have to look for the signs.

Not officially recommended by NYCDOT, but I keep this in my phone or whatever just to look up an unfamiliar area. Parking in West Village, Chelsea, Greenwich Village and Soho for instance. http://www.nycdot.info/#

Not really, because there is no sign on the street, physically, now.

Why would you want to call the city?

Need to make a fruit and veggie run to Fairway sometime this week, so will have a peek.

Are you sure these aren't Select Bus Service (SBS) stops?

Yes, it is well past it.
I think the area used to be under construction, it's not right now.

Right, but if the website says there are a bunch of restrictions on that street (and it does say that; I used the locator to look up that block) then obviously it's not safe to park, signs or no signs.

Do you really want to park there, get a ticket and then have to fight it with photographs of streets with no signs? Even if you are able to get the ticket dismissed, isn't that a huge waste of time?

That's my opinion, anyway.

Free street parking on Lexington Avenue and 86th Street, and without restrictions? Dream on.

Ok, Little Mister Gentleman, here is the deal.

Just took a walk from Lexington and 86th to Third....

It is as one stated upthread, due to construction permanent signs have been removed but there are temporary ones posted, though they are hard to find.

As myself and someone else stated you can look up the parking regulations here: Parking Regulations

Parking Regulations

By doing so you'll notice aside from the Select Bus Service stops (where you cannot park period), parking on much of East 86th between Lexington and Third is temporarily suspended between 7AM and 6PM M-F due to "hard hat" construction. Other parts of block have one hour meter rules in effect M-Sat. Then you have street cleaning rules.
