Anyone know how often this happens. I smell it often when walking down the street. Do the cops still lock people up for this or a ticket? Have you seen a cop arrest or issue a ticket to someone smoking? I live in low income affordable housing and there’s a no smoking rule in the lease so I’m have to go outside and smoke. One day I Seen 2 white guys that live in my building outside smoking weed in one of the same spots people usually smoke there cigarettes. They Wasn’t trying to be discreet about it or anything
If youre white a warning or summons. If your black or brown it’s a trip to bookings, and if you happen to be an immigrant legal or illegal it could mean deportation from the country.
If you're Black like me or last name Sanchez it's not.

I’m black so I guess it’s best I don’t take this risk. I smell it all the time though when walking down the street, shopping areas and all
I work on lower Broadway, and I smell it down there all the time. I don't see anyone arresting the Wall Street smokers.
Back in 1990, cops picked off my friend and I smoking a joint in a closed-up doorway on Carlisle Street (one-block street a few blocks south of the WTC). We were given a desk appearance ticket, and showed up when we got the second notice months later. The clerks who pulled our tickets laughed at us. The bailiff in the courtroom laughed at us. Then the judge came out, the bailiff whispered to her and showed her some papers, and then she laughed, too, then told us it was a $25 fine but the sentence was suspended and would be dropped after a year as long as we did not have similar charges during that time.
By then we realized we were the only two idiots who had ever shown up in court for a marijuana desk appearance ticket.
We used to walk around down there and smoke at lunchtime all the time. I can remember getting annoyed once when President Clinton came to the WTC and there were SWAT teams on the building all around the area so we had to walk farther away to smoke so they wouldn't see us. As if they would've cared, lol.
