It’s just amazing how corrupt the NY political is, between him and Cuomo its totally sickening❗️

Businesses don't flock to NYC like it is the "end all, be all city" any longer. Sure, it's NYC and I love it, and many many folks love it.
But you can still absolutely love it and still just visit it and have some customers in it, but your business can remain in cities like Pittsburgh or Louisville or Charlotte, and be just fine and dandy, without paying hefty NYC taxes or dealing with outrageously high commercial rent.

That's the issue facing NYC now and moving forward. NYC in a lot of ways has driven out so many middle class earners and industries, that New York has become a museum piece, with well off folks and super rich folks living in the luxury high-rises. Average earners cannot afford sh*t in NYC.

High and rising residential rents, high and rising commercial rents, high and rising taxes, fees, and regulations. Driving folks out. People are leaving the NYC area larger than they have in a long time.

When recession rolls around again, NYC may be in bigger trouble than it has in a long time.
The only good thing about the next recession would be more Republicans getting elected in the NY Congress. The majority dems are already causing trouble, we need a balance.

Plus a recession will mean less spending done by De Blasio. So those are the good outcomes of a recession. Which will be happening soon, I say once trump gets out of office.

De Blasio is incredibly weak and a flip flopper

I really hope he doesn’t waste his time campaigning for higher office. NYC should have elected someone with balls

Since the issue seems to be rents climbing higher due to higher wage workers coming into LIC probably time for the city council to pass a law that only companies offering "not" more than $15/hr will be allowed to set up shop in LIC.

Which lines? And are they empty going into Midtown or out of it?

NY doesn't need Amazon as much as other cities could. That said as much as I can't stand Bezos why should he put up with SJWs/NIMBYs? Bad enough he has to deal with Seattle.

Yeah, I think this was what it was. Amazon did not want another Seattle to deal with. It was brilliant on their part to split HQ2 into two. At least they have one location to work with now.

All locals and politicians who are protesting: Invest your savings and setup a coffee shop or convenience store and check out for yourself how easy or difficult it is to run a profitable business and hiring people and paying them wages on time.

Amazon is better off in newark where gentrification would benefit.

No Amazon would not have come there anyway. They had multiple attractive offers on the table. Amazon isn't going to Newark. The criteria for Amazon isn't about what place benefits the most from Amazon but what place benefits Amazon the most.

Amazon developed from selling books out of a garage to the biggest etailer in the world without being in NYC. They definitely don't need to be in NYC. They don't even need to be in the USA. We're lucky they weren't considering Mexico City or Monterrey.
