Well, read the text of the relevant act that was introduced to the Congress in May. The act is referenced in the article for which you have a link in this thread. Nothing murky about it, on the contrary, it is very direct.

I think it does make sense to make a distinction. In this administration an illegal immigrant working and minding their business is no different than an Ms 13 member. So why would the ICE agents risk their safety when they can just go entrap people with schedule appointments at the immigration office. Another point on the board so what's the difference ?

It's true, there is no difference

My parents immigrated here legally

I would be embarrassed if they had "jumped borders"

No different than squatting.

It's actually like squatting when the original occupants are still living in the house. To come here illegally.

Why? Congressional bills are voted upon at the level of the US Congress, not at the level of voters from the Bronx. You don't have your usual argument of NYC "minorities" voting the rational measures down in this case. The entities voting for or against this bill are representing all the US states, ie, the same voting level at which Trump was elected a president.

Looking at it this way doesnt really make things safer. Just go for the low hanging fruit and leave the gangsters.

Your parents also immigrated in a much different time. It's basically impossible to immigrate legally from most countries now, and the administration has drastically cut the numbers allowed. Just consider the differences before you make a straight line comparison
