Our population is going down soon anyways so it's not a problem.

I thought you were going to say during the looting from the 70's blackout LOL

MTA needs to fix what they've got now, never mind building new.

Took over an hour to get from City Hall to UES yesterday on "R" and "Q" due to some issue at 59th street. Last Monday was nearly as bad due to problems in Brooklyn affecting same line.

I swear things ran fine during pandemic; soon as city opened up to phase II and III it was SNAFU all over again.

Of course we're not, but they won't say that, because the current 2nd ave line is "racist" because it stops before entering Spanish Harlem. Every politician is going to virtue signal that they're going to expand to 125th but there is no money, no real will. It's over

There are two GD words am getting fed up with hearing; "racist" and "inequality". It's like the usual suspects and their supporters suddenly opened a dictionary or something.

I'm tired of hearing it too

Because there is no such thing as racism and everybody gets treated equally in the USA no matter what

So I don't understand.

They need to do both. They can even be smart and build out certain new lines that can be a relief or alternative line with a transfer for two for an old line that needs heavy fixing, and upon the opening of the new line, shut the old for a quick continuous stint of repairs and upgrades. Could have done that with the SAS to some extent and then embarked on upgrades for the Lexington Avenue Line.

The Third Rail - Back to the Future - page 1
The End of Innovation

New York City politics was not standing still, however. Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia, who had taken office in 1933, was no friend of streetcars, of elevated lines, or of private ownership of transit. He pressed relentlessly for “Unification,” the City takeover of the BMT and IRT. The IRT was happy to go out of business but the BMT fought almost to the last.
After taking over the private companies, not only did the innovations of the BMT end, but the City lost its taste for subway building. The IND “Second System” of 1929 remains unbuilt. The private lines that attracted IND competition were abandoned, several immediately and more as the years went on.
...
Remember, government is always "glad" to take your taxes, and demand your obedience. But don't complain when it mismanages everything!
