I always hold it in until I get home. I try to avoid public restrooms if I can. They are disgusting!

There was one of these by city hall for a while as an experiment. But it eventually went away.

They have started installing them in Montreal’s downtown districts, too. They are safe and must cost a bundle to implement.

I never used them in Montreal, but I did a couple of times in Paris and was impressed at how well they work. I suppose the plumbing and electric connections to install them as permanent fixtures on sidewalks is a pretty major investment. I guess Paris with it’s massive tourism numbers had to supply above what was available from normal outlets like bars, restaurants and public buildings.

This is another thing that makes having an Equinox membership worth it. If I'm out and about in Manhattan and need to go, chances are there's an Equinox within walking distance with impeccably clean bathrooms. I've used the one in Soho only for this reason while out shopping in the area (never actually worked out there).

Thats basically Greenwich Village. Just walk into any dive bar as if you are going to order a drink, then go to the back and use the restroom. I do it all the time.

If it's during the day and you're near a chain store, you can usually ask to use the bathroom even if it's kept locked. I did this in Blick art supplies in Chelsea and in the Columbia sportswear store in UWS. Trader Joes has bathrooms that are unlocked generally.

This is actually a good idea. I'll check to see how much Planet Fitness is.

I just bought a scooter and I need a restroom and a place to store it when I'm going around Queens. The $100 a year may be worth that.

The restroom issue is real. The one at 61st Woodside was locked. This is a major transportation hub. There is literally NO reason it should not be operational during the day.

There was also one in Herald Square but it was easier and cheaper to pee in Penney's or Macy's

If no one mentioned it yet, Columbus circle shops has one and i think all TJmaxx and Marshall have a bathroom. In times square the new mcdonalds has a clean bathroom on the 2nd floor.

Does anyone know a good one in battery park?
