Would maybe many agree that we hate the bother of re-cycling, but acknowledge that it's something we should be good about? Maybe NYC would lead the way?

Recycling in America Is a Mess. A New Bill Could Clean It Up.
A couple of New York State legislators, Democrats from Long Island, Senator Todd Kaminsky and Assemblyman Steve Englebright, have drafted a recycling bill that, if enacted, would set a conspicuous precedent for other states.
The bill is designed to get money flowing back into New York’s recycling programs, with the prospect of upgrading trash-sorting technology and creating green jobs. It also provides incentives for consumer brand owners to use more recyclable materials and reduce their packaging overall.

I don't find re-cycling a bother. Nothing bothersome about it too me.
What is bothersome is having to buy plastic garbage bags now.

A recycling program that actually works would be something I’d support. Currently, the majority of what we think we recycle ends up burned or buried sadly.

I think we also need to rethink everything from product packaging to making electronics less disposable.

To my understanding, #1 and #2 plastic are useful to recycle but anything higher than that is generally junk plastic that is not universally recycled

I try to buy aluminum cans when possible (instead of plastic) since I am of the belief that aluminum is more likely to actually be recycled as aluminum is a valuable metal.

Seattle has had single stream recycling for a while. Much easier not having to sort.

First dirty little secret of recycling in NYC is that 90% of what we sort out for recycling goes straight into the trash landfill

Second secret is that when China used to accept our recycling before the clampdown, after crossing the oceans in diesel spewing cargo ships they would dump most of it into the ocean

If the city wants to set up legitimate recycling plants, it can be done but we're sure going to pay for it

I don't know why someone hasn't yet figured out how to make compostable "plastic" bags.

Reminds me of the keystone pipeline. They shut that down so now the product gets to make it's way by truck and train, which is more expensive, less safe and worse for the enviornment.
