NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan is retiring and will be replaced by Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison, The Post has learned.
Monahan’s departure after more than three years atop the 36,000-strong Big Apple police force could lead to a reshuffling of the department’s top brass.
Monahan, a Bronx-born cop with a tough-as-nails reputation, became the NYPD’s 40th chief of the department in 2018.
Is this the guy who took a knee with blm and then got smacked in the head with a bat for it?
Yup. And then used that attack as an example to berate cops who no longer want to fight with perps, meanwhile he grabbed the guys throat, which he'd excoriate and prosecute a regular cop for.
If Monahan got hit by a bus, I'd buy a $250 bottle of scotch to celebrate.

What a lame. Shame on the bat attacker for not hitting him in the head hard enough in order to knock some sense in him. But maybe this chief is onto something here as he's gotten an advisory position the second he retired.
He’s got a new job lined up at City Hall, so does that mean he will be double-dipping, getting a nice police pension and a nice city paycheck for his new job at the same time?

Most cops are in it for the money. He's in it for the money too. What's the difference? In this case, it just so happens that the interests differ.
The top brass of any city agency (or most companies for that matter) are just lackeys. They're their to toe the line and collect the outsized paycheck.
I'm not saying I agree with him but 99% of cops would do the same thing he's done. Those who wouldn't would never take that job in the first place.
