Asians tend to live below their means and have healthy savings ,they also like to wear high carat gold jewelry and jade and carry cash.
Years ago when I lived in Chicago, the robbers found out the Chinese merchants in Chinatown, when they closed their shops ,they will put their cash in a brown bag and go to deposit in the bank ,they are robbed on the street .
They also found out that yellow chain/ earrings they wear are high carat gold,18k or even 24K and their wallet has more cash than the average Americans .
Chinatowns are often next to Italian towns and both are in not so upscale neighborhood.(Chicago,NYC),in fact that roast duck, chicken you see in their deli, they bought fresh ones from the Italians next door !
The Chinese back in the day bought fresh spaghetti from the Italians next door and had it stretched out into what they call noodles

It would make sense, actually. South Korea has made great progress and now offers a standard of living that is almost on par with Japan.
They are also a very proud nation - monocultural, very homogeneous and determined to keep it this way. Good for them, as it is a smart move in my opinion.

Not sure about the social economic mobility aspect. I do know that Korean society is competitive and stressful, so there is that. But don't forget that they have significantly less crime. So being poor in Seoul or Daegu does not come with safety issues the way it does in NYC or DC.

Honestly, unless they are already established in the US as successful professionals
living a good life, I don't really see why they would stick around.
Yeah, I've lived in South Korea for a few months due to COVID. It's much more advanced than NYC as a whole in almost every aspect except maybe from a societal perspective (quite a conservative society, if you will). Everything is convenient, too convenient actually.

Most Koreans would go back in a heartbeat to live a better life in South Korea. Only those who are earning a good pay check in NYC would stay.

NYC has been a forgetful city once you realize what s crapshoot it has become the last 10 years. I can name 3-4 cities that are not only better economically and have more things to do at night than this dull expensive city.

Have you ever seen a big city with this much never ending construction, homeless, and empty store fronts even before covid?

Go to Dubai and you quickly realize that NYC is so poor. NYC's tax money is being spent at all the fancy homes of public workers and their overtime and vacations. The homeless and poor citizens are getting chop liver. That's the problem with this city, the tax money is not being invested. It's all paying the coffers of state/city workers and politicians.

https://nypost.com/2021/03/29/asian-...wn-hate-crime/

"The unidentified suspect allegedly hurled anti-Asian statements as he punched and kicked the 65-year-old woman on West 43rd Street near Ninth Avenue at about 11:40 a.m., according to cops.

“F—k you, you don’t belong here,” the brute yelled at the woman, according to sources.

Video footage of the attack provided by police shows the suspect kicking the victim to the ground — then kicking her in the head several times as she was on the ground."

Another one. There is no "political hoax" here. If anything Asians are the ones to underreport b/c we do not seek attention and go out of our way to avoid it.

Not quite.

Ive seen stories where just as many whites attack Asians, so not really.

When confronted by a gorilla, you run (wearing good shoes), not to fight it with naked hands. This proves the point. Thugs are having a feast in NYC.

One observation that boggles my mind is that a disproportionately large amount of anti-asian violent crimes in NYC are committed by black//hispanic perps. What is the their beef with Asians? Aren't they all minorities/people of color and victims of white supremacy? Help me!

Lawmakers Want To Reform Hate Crime Laws. Will That Actually Ease Attacks On Asian Community?

https://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs...sts_po-organic

But some in the Asian community are criticizing calls to strengthen hate crime legislation, saying a reliance on the justice system to stop these attacks might only make the problem worse.
