Check Vlad and nicky and millions they make. Also check Blippie.
Then check Noam Chomsky and compare their followers.

It's hard work + not making stupid choices. The latter is actually more key than the former. Plenty if people work hard but also make absolutely stupid choices that negate their hard work.

Hard work + good or avoiding bad choices leads to something (at least) decent 99% of the time in the US.

You are pointing out the very very few, very small, fraction of people who are successful in this industry. In comparison to the massive scale of wannbe social media stars only a fraction make it big and successful. There is no way the majority of people that were once working these minimum wage, lower pay jobs are now venturing off for the fortunes of social media stardom and money, which is my point.

little luck also comes to play.

Most people have a few golden opportunities in their lifetime. Its what you make out of it.

great resignation.
why not pursue a job that you like to do, or have your own start up?
why not work at your own terms ? (on-demand delivery apps boom)
golden opportunity for many, especially if your in field that can slowly be in less demand to switch to different field.

During the pandemic, many realized that the employers saw them as expandable at any given moment. In those fields, many experienced skilled workers (with years of experience) moved on to different field, and it will take time to replenish experience workers.

A recent report showed about 50% of workers (nationally) where close to retirement age and just decided to not go back and retire. Some people have $$ saved and took new jobs out of NYC for a better QOL. I think NYC is in trouble, office workers aren't comin back. I would be shocked it if its 60% pre pandemic in next decade. This will erode the taxrolls and put a huge hurt in the hospitality industry. More and more people with kids will flee to the burbs or out of state due to the crime or perceived crime and the attack on Asians and specialized schools. Remember in LI, Westchester Northern NJ, CT you want to be a in a top SD just buy a house in that district and your in.

Especially now where the city has eliminated zoned schools.

That is going to be such a pain. That will for sure encourage another exodus out of the city.
