Southern Brooklynites and Staten Islanders have at least one thing in common — they both want a fast ferry!

“Staten Island’s fast ferry service is a crucial step in reducing our reliance on cars and supporting a 21st Century Transportation future,” said Rose Uscianowski, Transportation Alternatives’ Staten Island and southern Brooklyn organizer. “Now it’s time to honor Staten Island’s historic relationship with South Brooklyn by expanding South Ferry service between Staten Island and South Brooklyn.”
So they think people from Staten Island and people from southern Brooklyn who own cars, and drive to visit relatives or shop in the other borough are going to take a bus to this ferry, sail across, and then take another bus to, say, the Staten Island Mall or 86th Street in Bay Ridge or the restaurants and clubs on Third Avenue? Not likely. Anyone who doesn't own a car takes the buses that go across the bridge and go right to the destinations I mentioned. When there was a ferry years ago, before the bridge, it carried cars.

This obviously isn't about people with cars...

Forgot to clip this part. They are claiming people with cars would use this ferry instead.
