Does WPIX still broadcast the Yule Log on TV? I can remember when they use to broadcast it back in the 1980’s, but we don’t get WPIX up here anymore and it has been a while since it was on cable(stopped around the mid 90’s or so).
WPIX used to say they broadcast the Yule Log for all the New Yorkers in apartment buildings who didn't have fireplaces. We ahd a fake fireplace in our house so we'd put the Yule log on for a while. Before stereo TV sound was approved in the late 1980s it was simulcast in stereo over WPIX-FM for a few years. A nice NYC tradition.
WPIX would also broadcast the great 1953 British 'A Christmas Carol' with Alistair Sims on Christmas Eve. Still the best version but I've grown to like the 1938 American version too.
Not to put a damper on things, but I absolutely hated the Yule Log presentation on Channel 11. As a kid, I wanted to watch cartoons, but only had a burning log to look at instead

Yule log was definitely on Ch 11 this year, but possibly on Friday night. I think WLNY had it on on Saturday. Hated it as a child, but love it as an adult
Yule Log was on Saturday from 9am to noon. Then March of the Wooden Soldiers came on (which I don't care for). I never cared for Laurel & Hardy. But I preferred them over the Three Stooges. Abbot & Costello was my fave but even they got on my nerves a bit.
