Not a good start for Queens in 2022... The borough dealt with the first homicide of the year in the Long Island City/Astoria area, and now this shooting and attempted car jacking in Forest Hills...

I wonder if the guy shot in Forest Hills was targeted. He’s living in Forest Hills so why does his car have Pennsylvania plates? The car has NYC parking tickets going back over six months so he hasn’t registered it in NY within 30 days like the law requires if he moved from Pennsylvania. Could be a random crime of course but I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t.

Interesting!

The OP hasn't mentioned that the 28 year old fare evader (who lost his life) at the 71st/Continental Avenue subway station in FH. He too was from a different neighborhood!

Funny... I'm thinking more about violent crimes... Here's another one in Queens... Man stabbed in the neck in a random attack...

It should be legal to carjack anyone committing insurance fraud like this.

Florida or Pennsylvania plates and you park in the neighborhood? This is what you get.

Ozone Park has always been violent. It's cheaper so that's where all the hooligans and crazies rest their heads. Unfortunately it's also a family dense area, but mostly immigrants who can't afford the rest of the city.

Regardless, the victim was another guy who didn't watch the Wu Tang series....

People who commit one kind of fraud may be involved in other kinds of not exactly legal behavior or maybe it’s unrelated and he was targeted because someone saw him with money or knew he often carried a lot of cash. Maybe someone saw him wearing an expensive watch or jewelry like that off-duty cop who was shot a few weeks ago leaving a club. I’m just speculating of course and likely we will never hear more about this incident unless the perps strike again.
