He also has the same broad brush economic driven approach to schools and our children. Not sure how he's going to last as Mayor pissing off the Teacher's union.
I hear sirens non stop and EMS workers are exhausted. In what universe is it a good idea to send kids back to school fully and people back to offices? Is there no appreciation or consideration for healthcare workers anymore?
If it's about profit over people just say so. Don't cover it in politico grease

He talked about why he's pushing to re-open today, and it's financial, nothing more. The longer we have people working remotely, etc., the more the local economy suffers. The City is surviving because of the funding from the Feds, but that money is going to run out sooner rather than later, and when it does, we may be in for a rude awakening if we're still set up this way. All of the City services have to be paid for, and that's contingent upon revenues being generated from taxes.
Except its the employees themselves who are telling employers they don't want to come back onsite for now. And in this job market, employees have more power. The truth is the forced WFH arrangement finally made it plain and obvious that there are thousands of jobs that can be done remotely, or semi-remotely. Now everyone knows it. Adams should just focus on attracting new jobs where collaborating in person is more appropriate instead of trying to stifle technology.

Hold on...I thought the virus and the vax was a hoax? Not saying that you, in particular, said this but I've been reading enough comments on this forum...people crying about mandates and the like. EMS workers are exhausted b/c non-vaxed people are almost exclusively the ones being hospitalized. I'm not buying this bulljive about having compassion for healthcare workers. Nor is there such a thing about profit over people when it comes to public service.
You want to show compassion? Get vaccinated and let's get back to normal. We're in year 3 of this pandemic and people are queuing longer for rapid tests than they are for vaccines which is utter stupidity.
Bottom line: schools should be open - remote learning has proven to be a disaster for MOST children. And people should go back to the office. Adams is right - you cannot run a city working from home.
