I rarely do any sort of trucks, with some exceptions, and even some of those aren't really cheap. Then you have the usual chains like Pret. You know what you are getting there, but the sandwiches are not that filling and they are $8-9 now. Grab a soup and it's easily around $16, not including any drink.

Sometimes in Midtown I would buy lunch from Whole Foods, but their food station is not what it used to be since Amazon took over. Better off buying the ingredients from Whole Foods and making my own sandwich.
Sometimes I brought from home, sometimes I didn't eat. Couldn't afford to spend $20 a day ($400 p/mo on lunches). Sometimes I would buy a $20 lunch where the portion was big enough to last me 2 days. I had a list at my desk of cheap places to eat in the event that I wanted to get something. Or sometimes I would bring a few packets of oatmeal and make breakfast that way for a few days.

Smart. You have other mouths to feed. I just have myself to feed. Even with my ex, if we made dinner at her place, I would bring leftovers that were excellent. We are both really good cooks, with similar tastes. Her thing was either Fairway, Whole Foods, or if she wanted to go cheap, Trader Joe's, which I was skeptical of, but some things were ok. Still can't get myself to shop there though, as they seem to hide where some of their items comes from. I like to be transparent about where my food comes from.

One thing I have done since this whole pandemic thing is track my spending on food. In 2020, I just spent like normal and tracked it. I was shocked at how much I spent some months. I made some changes last year. Basically I can buy whatever I want, provided I stay within a budget. I try to anyway. lol I have roughly an idea of what I spend on average, so when I go to Whole Foods now I just make a list in advance with the price of everything. If I don't do that and start throwing in a few things here and there, before I know it I've overspent by $50. lol

When I do go in now to the office, there are days where I buy just a cortado and pastry. I may bring lunch and sparkling water from home or not bother if I'm staying a few hours. Some things travel very well and are delicious. Sandwiches... I buy the ingredients from Whole Foods and they are better than any sandwich I could buy out anywhere. Sometimes I make up soups at home, bring them and warm them in the microwave in the office. With some fresh baked bread, it's delicious. It helps that days in the office aren't nearly as long either, so not as hungry.

Oatmeal is really good idea too. Easy to make in the office I bet. At home, I take plain oatmeal, I warm up some milk for mine and a little maple syrup with some fresh blueberries or raspberries.

Fire you and replace you with someone who'll do what the manager wants.

I hated every second in the office and am glad to be done with it. I shan't go back again. With modern technology, there is no need for offices. Some companies now have never had an office.

Very true. And the smarter companies will follow that trend

How are you guys handling the extra noise while everyone is home all day ? That could drive me nuts. I loved when people were in the office.

Not knowing you, or what you, I have no idea how hard you would be to replace. But you seem to think you're irreplaceable. That's usually a mistake.
