I've been at the office since last August. 'Course I don't have much of a commute (15-20 min to work). But, most of my friends have been wfh. They were already wfh pre-pandemic and will continue to do so post-pandemic or mid-pandemic (or whatever stage we're in now--I can't keep track). lol. Face it. Times they are a changin'.

Adams can urge all he wants. And it's not covid they're afraid of. I'm not afraid of covid. I'm more afraid of getting whacked by a crazed homeless bum! Until the streets/subways are safer, people will stay put. Not good for businesses that are reliant on office workers/tourists' foot traffic but... what can you do? C'est la vie.

Despite continued calls from Mayor Eric Adams urging employers to bring their workers back to the office, many employees are opting to remain remote.

"I love the convenience,” explained Jessica Kenyon.

She has been working from her Queens apartment since the start of March 2020.

According to Kastle Systems, this month's office occupancy has hovered at around 30%

During mid-April, it hit a low of 4.3% from pre-pandemic levels

It makes no sense to return to work. We have proven many jobs can be done from home for two years now.

Why waste time in transit and deal with that stress when you can save all that time by staying home. Not to mention paying for gas now! Some company's have sut down offices and are letting people work from home on a perm basis now. And if other places are smart they will do the same as many people now will not take a job unless they get to work from home

It doesn't make sense for most employees nor even employers.

The only people it makes sense for are those who are invested in commercial real estate and the restaurants and stores in areas that depend heavily on worker/commuter business to generate revenue.

As I said in another thread...

Why? He's positioning the argument to transition to another racism claim. "The whites won't return to work to help the poor minorities."

Go screw Mr. Mayor.

Who out there is willing to voluntarily give up the increased quality of life that WFH has provided, believing that they are white knighting some waitress' job? lol

No one cares what this buffoon has to say. Too stupid to realize companies shifted their way of operating. Going to work is an outdated formula in a white collar world and Manhattan is a white collar area.

Drop all vaccine mandates and hope for a miracle. But I wouldn’t bet on it.

Leftism is finally running up against a segment of society they cannot control, and it has no idea how to respond. lol

Anyone who is able to escape that meaningless rat race and improve their quality of life, I salute them.
Maybe you don’t need new crap every two weeks, you shop less. You adjust and actually enjoy life more. Discover things. Life is too short to be working all the time.
