Sure. They don't work because they're still needed. Worldwide they don't work. I thought the point of prison was supposed to be a deterrent to committing crime. Then why are they still full? Because people profit off of others being locked up, prisons are a cash cow and a lot of people would be out of a job if we solved the traumas that caused people to commit crimes. Detaining people against their will is an archaic practice and criminal in itself.
So what exactly are the "traumas" that cause certain people to commit crimes? And if detaining them is not a suitable option in your view, what alternatives would you propose to keep society safe from violent offenders?
None of this really proves that high testosterone causes crime, however. It just states that high testosterone is found in people that commit violent crimes. Where's the proof that having a high level of testosterone makes people commit violent crime, instead of trauma?
From your second link:
"Conclusion: Testosterone is related to criminal violence and aggressive dominance in prison among women, as has been reported among men. Changes in these behaviors with age are in part explained by a decline in testosterone levels."
Related to - but not the cause of.
If high testosterone caused crime by itself, then every athlete from the NHL, to the Olympics worldwide would have violent criminal records. Nice try though.

It has to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, everybody is not going to experience the same traumas, everybody lives different lives
The only alternative is to fix the particular trauma that afflicts that person.

But I don’t get that on the one hand, you find that the system is hunky dory, and OTH you complain of the high crime.
If I had to pick out the items on a list that makes the US a great society, I would make sure to hide the incarceration numbers and the crime stats.
Solution to a problem is sterilizing some of these children at birth. Its a real solution to a problem,. but then you get ethics freaks crying for justice and equality.
