This is what a "flattened curve" means. We achieved that between June 2020 and October 2020. The goal is the achieve that flat line and KEEP IT THERE. Looks like we sorta got there again in the summer of 2021 and then ruined it again starting in August 2021. I think once we can get back to June 2020/2021 numbers and keep that line flat FOREVER, then we can officially declare Covid an endemic. But as you can see, we are not there yet since we are struggling so much to keep that line stable!

Is it not normal for endemic diseases to see seasonal jumps? The only thing that matters are hospitalizations and deaths or long term impairment due to the disease. There are people who cannot let go of this new way of life. Positive cases where people have bad cold symptoms spiking are not a reason to put covid restrictions in place forever, which is what it appears people of a certain mindset want.

On the bright side, their fascination with covid control seems to finally be catching up to them. All signs point to a shellacking for the dems in November.

Yes, it sucks that the vaccines can't prevent you from catching Omicron, but it still keeps you from getting severely ill. So the vaccine is still doing what it's supposed to do!

Yes people are catching omicron, no deaths and hospitalizations are not and will not go back up dramatically. This means the virus is weak, maybe slightly worse than a cold for most people.

Well, the experts say to eliminate covid people should get the booster. If only people did what they were supposed to do, and trusted the experts, we woud've gotten rid of it by now!

It's not going to eliminate Covid as it doesn't stop spreading; it just reduces illness. When Alpha was the dominant variant when the vaccines actually prevented you from catching & spreading, THAT is when everyone should've gotten their shots. But people flat out refused and that's why this damn virus doesn't go away!

Well lets say you and Dr. Campbell are right and the virus is indeed weaker right now. How do you know that this continuous spread of the virus won't cause it to mutate into something extremely serious and lethal?? Mind you, this subvariant is VERY VERY contagious; the most contagious strain to date! More transmissibility = more variants popping up!

What we're trying to do is slow the spread and prevent mutation because God knows what will happen if we let this thing continue mutating. Not wearing a mask (a good quality mask, that is) and not social distancing will only further promote spreading and mutation.

Didn’t care for Cases since summer 2020. Didn’t care for como or that empty ship that was docked on west side.

Like I said it’s over. Masks been off for a long time. Life has been back to normal for more that a year and a half or so.
Screw Fauci, cdc and everyone in between, including big pharma.

So while we're much closer to pre pandemic norms than we were in 2020 or 2021, there is still a large chunk of the population who is social distancing. And New York is maintaining the mask mandate on public transit, which in my opinion is one of the last obstacles to really going back to normal
Bars are half empty because all those transplant hicks went back to live with their parents.
Real NYers hardly ever hang in Manhattan bars. What you see is probably the few Manhattan residents left behind.

You don't even live in NYC. You have no idea what you talking about
