I have now confirmed that certain people are living in an alternate reality.
No matter the temperatures elsewhere, this Summer has been anything but cool.
Only way to find out is to look at the average and median so far and compare to previous years.
Anecdotally, it has been an unusually cool summer. We had the week long heat wave that ended this past Tuesday/Wednesday but no other unusually hot (real feel 100+) days thus far.
Also, the thing about NYC summers is that humidity matters a lot more than temperature. 95 with low humidity feels cooler than 90 with 70% humidity.

Are you not in NY now? It hardly touched 80 today and will (likely) remain cool in the coming weeks. Lows will reach 65 south in mid August. Not sure if you have a broker thermometer or what.

Hardly touched 80? It was in the 80s today. The humidity was just low.

That is incorrect. So far, this summer has been hot. In fact, July tied for the 4th hottest summer within the past 20 years with temps averaging 79.3 degrees. High humidity in NYC is a given so you're not going to experience too many days like yesterday and today. But let's see what August brings.
What should be worrying to all is that precipitation is low. If we don't get a lot of rain soon, expect water conservation rules to kick in.
Feels like an Oct day today…incredible!!
I have all windows open and ac off day/night.
I love NY
