There are more mentally ill on the subway, it seems. The pandemic pushed more people into homelessness too, I think.

There's a difference between random and targeted crime. Random crime is what matters to most people.

Furthermore, referencing 20 years ago is irrelevant. At one point, most people were making minimum wage/near minimum wage at some sort of job in HS or college. If some 50 year old is now making $200K, can you cut their salary down to $50K and tell them, "well, this is still better than minimum wage".

Increasing crime is like taking a pay cut. No one is willing to take a pay cut because 20 years ago, they were making less.

I don’t understand the analysis above. Are we all supposed to live in fear?

Do we all have to show emotions of being shocked, appalled and dismayed to prove we don’t like crime?
Having lived in Central Europe for quite some time, I can assure you, if someone got randomly beat up in broad daylight by a loon in Berlin, Prague, Hamburg or Vienna, it would be SHOCKING and make the national news. In NYC, a "safe" city as many of you like to call it, this type of thing happens almost every day now.

So yeah, there are most certainly cities where repeat, random violent crime is nonexistent. You can thank woke democrats for this gift that keeps on giving.
