Have you been to libraries lately? They’re literally baby sitting centers and internet cafes. I love libraries and I spent countless hours a kid at the BK central library but NYCs libraries serve a different function nowadays.

My opinion:

The pain of wasteful spending under this current administration is already being felt.

NYC Quality of Life will suffer.......and continue to worsen until debts are paid and enough money
is saved to reignite wonderful programs that provide financial aid to the Public Libraries.

Funny how it doesn't occur to them to close on Monday, Wednesday or Friday and open on Saturday, like small shops do.

Makes sense because none of us are at work on weekdays.

With the internet, libraries are somewhat outdated.

NYC should create a partnership with H.S and colleges to create a community library for local residents near the school.

I agree with another poster that some libraries have become daycare centers and this is not the purpose of library.

Nope, because politics and grandstanding is more important than actual policy.

I looked at some online pictures of my local Queens library and there was a toddler playing with blocks. I can understand having children’s books but libraries are not meant to be playgrounds. Toddlers don’t belong in a library. There are other places for them. The last time I went to a public library over ten years ago there were some homeless inside. I don’t know if that is still an issue.
